Leslie Lewis et Gérard Hagen "Bonjour de Paris" 25 Mai 2016

Bonjour de Paris ...

Chers Amis,

After four trips to the Préfecture de Police, creating four copies of our indentifying documents and having received four temporary work permits, we recently were told we will get our actual hard copy work permits after June 22nd! We began this process in December of 2014. We submitted our dossiers in February, 2015. We received the first of four temporary work permits in August, 2015. And now after almost a year of temporary permits our cards are almost created. They will expire in August 2018. And so it goes...

One of my favorite Paris photos.

After all the travel we did last month, we are happy to have been in Paris for all of May. This Sunday we are excited to be performing at the Pavillions Jazz Festival in Les Pavillions-sous-Bois. Les Pavillions-sous-Bois is just outside of Paris, so we will be able to return to our home that night by way of commuter train.

We have been fortunate to have had a number of friends visit Paris this month. I didn't ask for permission to publish their names in this newsletter so I won't name them. But we always love seeing you when you do visit Paris. This summer we have some very good friends coming for vacation/work and well as some family. I always like to hang in Paris with people I associate with other places I've lived. It can be a bit surreal.

This summer looks like it will be somewhat quiet. We will be working in Paris in July and we will again be relaxing at the beach in La Baule for a few weeks in August. Frankly I am looking forward to some sunny beach days. The gloom of Paris is still lurking this spring and the few sunny days we've had haven't had the effect of bringing me out of winter mode.

Leslie has done her usual magic in our garden terrace and it is a really nice place to spend an afternoon or evening but, due to work and bad weather, we haven't had the opportunity to use it other than grilling a few dinners in the rain.

 Jardin du Leslie...

We have some cool things brewing for October and December. Once we have confirmations I will let you know about them just in case you can join us somewhere in the world.

Check our website for our other June dates, we have the usual jazz club gigs in and around Paris. While you are there sign up for our weekly email blast to learn where you can hear us.

Until next time,
Leslie and Gerard
